Romanticism and Landscape: an Eco-critical approach to the Natural Image.

El artículo busca rastrear de manera concisa la genealogía del concepto de Naturaleza y paisaje desde el romanticismo hasta la segunda revolución industrial. Esta arqueología de las ideas busca diseccionar el término Naturaleza para poder argumentar que se trata de un contenedor vacío, fantasioso e instrumentalizado por ejes de poder a veces reaccionarios. La actual crisis ambiental procura una nueva visión de aquello que esta “allá afuera” que llamamos Naturaleza y el paradigma romántico ofrece una imagen contemplativa y pasiva de esta. Tal visión se presta a la explotación económica y al consumo estético. A través del lente de la ecocrítica se busca desbaratar y deconstruir la fantasía de la Naturaleza proponiendo puntos de entrada desde la transdisciplinariedad y los estudios críticos.

The article tries to trace the genealogy of the concept of Nature and landscape from romanticism to the second industrial revolution. This archeology of ideas seeks to dissect the term Nature in order to argue that it is an empty container, idealized and instrumentalized by sometimes reactionary axes of power. The current environmental crisis seeks a new vision of what is “out there” that we call Nature and the romantic paradigm offers a contemplative and passive image of it that lends itself to economic exploitation and aesthetic consumption. Through the lens of eco-criticism, the aim is to disrupt and deconstruct the fantasy of Nature by proposing entry points from transdisciplinarity and critical studies.
